I am a Registered Psychologist with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and additional training in evidence-based therapies: Emotion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My passion lies in working with adults who are experiencing depression, shame and guilt, low self-esteem, relationship concerns and grief. I welcome individuals of different backgrounds, experiences and worldviews.

Emotions provide important information to guide us towards what we need most in our lives. Avoidance of emotions can lead to stuck, lingering feelings that are no longer useful as well as reliance on potentially harmful coping behaviours. My primary therapy approach emphasizes experiencing of emotions in order to either identify adaptive information or to transform lingering bad feelings. However, therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I tailor my approach to each person by collaborating on the focus of therapy, integrating therapy approaches, incorporating your beliefs about healing and asking for feedback.

It takes a lot of courage to disclose personal concerns. I create a safe and trusting therapy relationship through warmth, compassion, empathy and shared humour to build comfort with sharing vulnerably.
