I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. Although I have worked with many issues, I have two main areas of experience; trauma (with an emphasis on sexual violence), and cognitive behavioural issues.
Trauma affects people in different ways. It can manifest in physical symptoms, in thought problems, and in troubling emotions. Uncovering the ways in which trauma has impacted your life allows me to tailor our therapy around what you need. By utilizing techniques from a variety of therapeutic approaches, together we can help you heal from your past.
I also use cognitive behavioural therapies in my work with clients. Cognitive behavioural therapies help people learn how to change the way they are feeling by changing the way that they think and act. This approach can be helpful in addressing anxiety, fears and phobias, depression, self-esteem, body image, assertiveness, and compulsive behaviours. I am comfortable working with LGBTQ clients and those in non-traditional or polyamorous relationships and have some experience with the unique challenges faced by this population.
